About Fraser Island

Fraser Island is situated just off Queensland's south coast, around 300km north of Brisbane and just across the water from Hervey Bay. The island is around 120 kilometres long, and varies between 5 and 25 kilometres wide.

The Island is a rich tapestry of clean freshwater lakes, lush rain forests and huge sand dunes. The Island's fauna is abundant, with 230 species of birds, whales frequenting the nearby bay, and Australia's purest population of dingoes.

People who visit Fraser Island for the first time often struggle to find the words to describe the beauty of this magical island - come and find out why!
